Spring Graduation Sets Records

A record twenty-one students graduated with degrees in one or more of our disciplines this spring. A remarkable two-thirds of these graduated with honors: nine summa cum laude (GPA ≥ 3.75), one magna cum laude (GPA 3.5–3.749), and three cum laude (GPA 3.25–3.449). Two graduates also completed the University Honors Program and two completed the University Scholars Program.

The graduates were joined by an audience of 150 friends, family, faculty, and staff, making this the department’s largest ever graduation ceremony by a significant margin. After receiving their certificates, the graduates received a commencement message from Karey Harwood, Associate Department Head and Associate Professor of Religious Studies.
Two of the department’s outstanding seniors also received awards during the graduation ceremony. Kyleigh Pegram received the Religious Studies Prize in Honor of Professor W. Curtis Fitzgerald and Rose Amburose received the Philosophy Prize in Honor of Professor Robert S. Bryan.
The department congratulates all these graduates and award winners on their achievements and wishes them well in their future endeavors!
